The Fight

The Fight

In the short story of "The Fight" by Richard Wright a fight that happened between the narrator and a kid at the narrator's new school. This had to do with the narrator and how he was being viewed as a new kid at school. The narrator reaction to the before the fight was anxiety during the fight he then felt scared with fear after all he ended up fighting tigerishly and this made him a little more confident. His reaction was not at all what he had expected but he got approached by this kid whomade him lose it. I agree with what the narrator did and his reaction to his approach because this is a way I probably would have reacted if someone approached. This has not at all happened to me or anyone I know of in my past or present life. I like the fact how the narrator challenges himself into something he was not ready for and his reaction to how things happened, but one thing I did not like was how he found that ring and was ready to crimson anybody who tried messing with him again. For example at the end of the story where he says "I would leave a crimson streak on his face. But I never had to use the ring. After I had exhibited my new weapon at school, a description of it spread among the boys."

Overall in the short story "The Fight" by Richard Wright was a great example for those children who have gone through this experience, for example children who have experienced being a bully and for those who have been in the same predicament as the narrator in this short story. The most part of this story is that it shows oneself is suppose to stand up for themselves in order to be respected and feel valuable toward themselves. Not only that but also for them to be able to be accepted as who they are.
